There are many good reasons to take a look at purchasing a home in sunny Brevard County, Florida. Whether you are looking at Titusville, Merritt Island, Palm Bay, or any of the other fine communities that exist in the county, there are over 10,000 empty homes just waiting for new owners, many of them relatively new. The housing bust hit the area particularly hard, which is why so many amazing houses remain on the market at far lower prices than even a decade ago. Aside from the affordable housing, there’s little question that the area has plenty to offer residents.
The Space Coast
Science and technology has a strong influence in the area thanks to the presence of the John F. Kennedy Space Center. NASA’s Cape Canaveral is located here, and the area even was allowed the area code of 321 to represent the countdown to lift-off. This area is famous for its connection to the space program, but that’s only a very small part of what the area has to offer.
Major League Baseball has a major footprint in this area. The Washington Nationals hold their spring training here, in addition to the areas being the home of the Class-A minor league Brevard County Manatees, the single A farm system team for the Milwaukee Brewers. There is an independent basketball team that plays, as well.
There’s no getting around that one of the major selling points to Brevard right now is the abundance of top quality houses still available because of the crash of the housing bubble in 2010 and 2011 in particular. Housing prices have dropped nearly 50% since their highest point according to RealEstate.AOL.com and that means affordable housing in desirable neighborhoods makes Brevard County as accessible as it has been in a very long time.
Location, Location, Location
One of the reasons to love Brevard is simple: the location. Gorgeous beaches on the Atlantic Ocean, a close location to Orlando, and an amazing array of outdoor activities and communities built with impressive downtowns means there is never a lack of things to do or see. People of all activity levels can find something to do here and with the wide array of available housing in a nice centralized part of the coast, it’s hard to see how it can get much better than in good old Brevard right now!
